[…] After a brief pause, Bonitatibus reappeared in a flesh coloured gown covered with sparkles, with big sparkling earrings. Semiramide riconosciuta was a story of considerable popularity in the 18th and early 19th centuries, culminating in Rossini’s Semiramide, a bel canto favourite. The version here is the opera of Vinci which Handel massaged into performability. Bonitatibus sang the aria “Fuggi dagli ochhi miei” with great passion, and impressive low notes.

Lumoava Anna Bonitatibus

12.2.2017 Helsingin Barokkiorkesteri, joht. Erich Höbarth, sol. Anna Bonitatibus, mezzosopraano Musiikkitalossa Helsingissä

Helsingin Barokkiorkesterin Vanhan musiikin sarjan kevätkausi alkoi Huippusolistit-konsertilla. Vieraaksi saapunut italialainen mezzosopraano Anna Bonitatibus esiintyi nyt ensimmäistä kertaa Suomessa. Johtajana tai oikeammin "liidaajana" toimi HeBO:n edessä usein vieraillut Erich Höbarth.

Konsertti alkoi J. S. Bachin Brandenburgilaisella konsertolla nro 5 D-duuri. Kuulimme sävykkään ja verevän tulkinnan, jossa solisteina toimivat viulisti Höbarth ja huilisti Pauliina Fred. Bonitatibusin ensimmäinen numero oli Monteverdin Lettera amorosa, jonka hän lauloi Aapo Häkkisen cembalosäestyksellä. Ihanaa, soljuvaa ja tunteikasta laulua!

Väliajan jälkeen oli ohjelmassa musiikkia François Couperinin teoksesta Les Nations. Kuusiosainen La Française alkoi sonaatilla, jota seurasi viiden tanssin sarja. Esityksen loppupuolella musisointiin tuli pieni katkos, kun Höbarthin viulusta katkesi kieli ja hän joutui poistumaan lavalta sitä vaihtamaan. Kaikeksi onneksi kieli katkesi juuri osan lopussa!

Ohjelman päätösnumerona oli Haydnin Arianna a Naxos -soolokantaatti. Bonitatibus eläytyi tekstiin aivan lumoavan hienosti ja hänen täyteläistä ääntään saattoi vain imeä itseensä. Ylimääräisenä saimme häneltä ja Aapo Häkkisen cembalolta Monteverdin hauskan kappaleen Maledetto sia l'aspetto.

Obwohl die sagenumwobene assyrische Königin Semiramis die Komponisten des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts zu mehr als 100 Vertonungen inspiriert hat, hat sie im heutigen Opernrepertoire nicht mehr den Bekanntheitsgrad einer Cleopatra, Armida oder Alcina. Selbst die wohl bekannteste Fassung von Gioachino Rossini ist recht selten auf der Bühne zu erleben. Die italienische Mezzosopranistin Anna Bonitatibus hat sich vorgenommen, daran etwas zu ändern, und deshalb nicht nur eine Doppel-CD unter dem Titel Semiramide - La Signora regale mit Arien aus zahlreichen Vertonungen eingespielt, sondern tritt nun auch in der Philharmonie Essen in der beliebten Reihe Alte Musik bei Kerzenschein auf, um der Königin mit Arien von unterschiedlichen Komponisten ein Denkmal zu setzen. Dabei präsentiert sie nicht nur Arien von der CD, sondern auch weitere Vertonungen, beispielsweise von Christoph Willibald Gluck und Ferdinando Bertoni. Andere auf CD eingespielte Nummern lässt sie weg, um einen weiteren Anreiz zu schaffen, im Anschluss an das Konzert die CD zu erwerben. Und Bonitatibus präsentiert sich an diesem Abend nicht nur stimmlich als Königin. […] Doch als er zum tödlichen Schlag gegen Assur ausholt, trifft er seine Mutter, die zu seinem Schutz herbeigeeilt ist, und rächt damit den Tod seines Vaters. Bonitatibus präsentiert aus Sebastiano Nasolinis Oper La morte di Semiramide die Szene, in der Semiramide der Geist ihres verstorbenen Gatten erscheint. Diese Szene wurde 1815 in Neapel mit Versatzstücken aus Marcos Portugals Vertonung und Koloraturen von Gioachino Rossini ergänzt, weil hier niemand Geringeres als Isabella Colbran die Titelpartie übernahm. Bonitatibus erweist sich erneut als Meisterin stupender Koloraturen und begeistert das Publikum durch schnelle und flexible Läufe. Natürlich darf auch die berühmte Kavatine "Bel raggio lusinghier" aus Rossinis Oper nicht fehlen.

C’est à Anna Bonitatibus que revient le privilège de lancer la soirée avec la chanson la Quête […] Cette version portée par la voix opératique de la mezzo italienne n’a qu’un seul effet […] nous rendre impatient de l’entendre chanter vraiment de l’opéra et pas forcement Dulcinée, rôle auquel elle se collera en fin de soirée […] 

C’est ce final de Don Quichotte de Massenet servi par des interprètes de premier plan qui sauve la soirée !! si Anna Bonitatibus arrive à coller parfaitement à la vision très « diva américaine » du metteur en scène Vincent Huguet tout en y apportant la fragilité qui la rend vraiment touchante dans le duo de l’acte 4.

Große Stunden aber auch der Solistinnen und Solisten. Joseph Haydn hat die fünf Gesangspartien – den Engel Raffaelle, Tobias Braut Sara, Tobias Mutter Anna, Tobias blinden Vater Tobit und natürlich Tobia selber – seinen damaligen Stars in die Kehlen geschrieben: hochvirtuose Partien, in denen alle Register technischer und gestalterischer Raffinessen zu ziehen sind.
In Salzburg aufgeboten waren die Sopranistin Lucy Crowe als Raffaelle, die Mezzosopranistin Anna Bonitatibus als Sara, die Altistin Bettina Ranch als Anna, der Tenor Mauro Peter als Tobia und der Bass Neal Davies als Tobit: Sie alle haben die vielfältigen Emotionen ihrer Partien – die bewegenden Stimmungswechsel innerhalb der einzelnen da capo-Arien, aber auch innerhalb des Gesamtwerkes – so mitreißend auf die Bühne gebracht, dass man biblische Wüsten- und Himmelslandschaften geradezu zu sehen meinte. Mit bewundernswerter technischer Souveränität haben die fünf Virtuosen ihrer Stimmfächer die unzähligen Wechsel zwischen ratlosem Disput, apokalyptischer Bedrohung, himmlischem Frieden und triumphierendem Jubel gestaltet. Scheinbar „nichts los“ im Stück und dennoch eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt!

Artystka sama siebie nazywa "fundamentalistyczną propagatorką" nieznanych dzieł Rossiniego. Jej zdaniem wciąż jest on kompozytorem mało znanym, zwłaszcza jako twórca oper seria i twórca, który swymi pomysłami i sposobem kształtowania formy operowej wyprzedzał epokę. Najbardziej dosłowne wykorzystanie tych możliwości pojawia się w ostatniej scenie pierwszego aktu. Targany rozterkami Sesto (świetna Anna Bonitatibus), którego prowadzi miłość do ukochanej Vitellii, decyduje się zabić swojego przyjaciela i władcę. W tym momencie na ekranie pojawia się trupia czaszka, której obraz przenika się z obrazem twarzy Sesta. To dosyć kiczowaty, symboliczny zabieg, dosłownie wyrażający treści arii (zamiar morderstwa). Ma on jednak także i inne znaczenie – Sesto już nie odzyska spokoju, wspomnienie próby zamachu na przyjaciela będzie źródłem jego nieprzerwanej udręki.
